Being Carly

Going Away

We survived moving, although I somehow got the flu in the midst of everything…or the black mold we found all over our apartment is poisoning me…

Our place looks completely ransacked and I need to collect the little bits and pieces left behind, sell our furniture, clean everything, and repaint. It’s actually damn lucky that I lost my job because I don’t know how any of this stuff would have gotten finished otherwise. I am hoping that Kyle gets the call that he has a job so we can just take off and skip all this, but it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen before this weekend.

As part of the cleaning up, I finally found my camera cord and liberated some photos, including the ones from the going away party that Jess, Alla, and Joy threw for us, so I thought I’d share:

(they’ll also miss Kyle, but I’m the one that gets it in cake-writing)

The going away process has been bittersweet and slightly exhausting because we don’t want to say goodbye to anyone and at the same time it would be less awkward to say goodbye and really mean it, instead of saying goodbye and then running into each other because Kyle and I fail at moving to Utah. I think people are getting a little tired of saying goodbye to us…maybe they’ll remember us more fondly if we just stay in hiding until we can actually get out of here…

I think pulling up roots is a bit of a process. It's totally normal to take some time and be together as long as you can until you're ready.

And ya know what? OHIO will still be there. If things don't work out in Utah, there's no reason you can't come back. I know I'm dealing with the same thing. I may be moving to Washington state from Southern California. It's simply pricing me (a single gal making GOOD money) out of the market. Over 1/2 of my paycheck goes just towards living expenses… I just can't seem to get ahead. I have NO idea how I'm going to afford this vacation I've committed to in Decemeber (but I'll be damned if I miss out)!
