Calvin made his entrance on Thursday evening. He (and I) had a rough time during delivery and he’s developed a case of jaundice that keeps him on a light box 24 hours a day but he’s oh so close to perfect for a baby that almost wasn’t going to be here. It’s all quite the story and I’ll go into far too much detail later on, but I’m really taking my time with this one before getting back into real life. Precious doesn’t even cover these days.
As for the rest of the Morgans, Eva is delighted with her brother and she’s been very gentle and loving with him. We’re trying to keep things as normal as possible for her, but Calvin’s therapy needs to be watched around the clock so Kyle and I are sleeping in two hour shifts and that doesn’t lead to very much normalcy. The good news is that we’re both starting to feel more rested than we did in the beginning, but I’m hoping that the secret to having two children isn’t that the two parents are never awake at the same time. Soon I’d like my body to feel well enough to take my daughter out for some long overdue mommy-and-me time and it will be nice to even sneak out and be social with other adults. And maybe some wine. And pants that don’t have elastic waists.
But for now, this is so much more than enough.
