I went to Alt again!
Love Alt. Alt changed my life. Going to Alt is like going to sleepover camp with all my favorites. Love love love Alt.
Stevie came with me this time, which was fun because she had never been, and I caught up with a lot of people who had come to Alt for the first time the summer before and were there this year speaking and designing parties and leading tours. It’s amazing how everyone shows up all new and jittery and not sure if they fit in and then within just 12 months they’re the experts that other people are lining up to take classes from.
I didn’t teach this summer but I led another shopping tour on Friday and had a great time showing off my city. I also got to help out with registration, which was a fun treat because it meant I hung out with Eden and said hello to absolutely every person at the conference.
My only regret for this Alt (like all the others) is that there were just too many good sessions and it was hard to choose between them. I enjoyed Alexandra Evjen talking about Pinterest like I always do (she was teamed up with Peg Fitzpatrick this time) but the surprise sneak show stealer for me was Alison Faulkner who gave me tons of brain food and I left her session with pages and pages of ideas.
I have takeaways and lessons and outfits to share, but for today I just wanted to post the video above and tell you that I had a wonderful time. This was the least amount of pressure I’ve ever put on myself to learn/grow/sell at this conference and the result was that I left feeling energized and refreshed instead of overwhelmed. We could all use a little bit of that this summer, don’t you think? I feel like we spend a lot of time running around trying to figure out how we can maximize benefits and use our time efficiently and get the biggest bang for our buck, but sometimes you just have to float around for a few days and be happy. Good for the soul.
