I’ve mentioned before that we have days where Eva can’t leave the house because of the air, but I don’t think I’ve ever really explained what I’m talking about. Salt Lake City has a pollution problem, particularly in the winter, thanks to a natural occurrence called inversion. The dirty air gets stuck in the valley and all those little particles just float around waiting for us to breathe them in. It’s like being stuck in a smoky bar.
Depending on where you live, I’d encourage you to check out the website AirNow to see how your air quality is. Even if you don’t have asthma, that dirty air can be irritating if you’ve recently been sick and if you have someone in your family who might be more susceptible (small kids, older people) it’s a good idea to consider how the air is before you plan any outdoor excursions this winter.
Today in Salt Lake City? Green! Good air for everyone and a morning at the park for the Morgans (with the just-in-case inhaler, of course).
