It’s Time to Order Your Valentines!

Note: I received free product from Tiny Prints for doing this post. The thoughts below are my own.

Happy February!

I know some people have mixed feelings about Valentine’s Day, but I appreciate the pops of red and pink hearts in the middle of the winter greys that show up this time of year. I have a collection of vintage valentines and the I’ve saved all of the ones the kids have ever gotten so our dining room is currently decorated with lots and lots of love.

Vintage valentines

Last year, Eva didn’t get to hand out valentines to her classmates because we had to pull her out of school in January thanks to a deep respiratory infection that kept aggravating her asthma. She was a little crushed about missing the Valentine’s Day party (we didn’t pull her quick enough for her to miss the prep for it) and so we ended up giving out some valentines as a family to the people in our little circle. It was really fun and I’m happy we’re doing it again this year!

We got both Eva’s classroom valentines and valentines for the rest of us from Tiny Prints this year, along with some other fun things for the holiday:

Tiny Prints for Valentine's Day

First off, Eva’s valentines for her class:

I love, love, love Eva’s valentines! They’re so perfect for her! I love all the bright colors and the fact that it’s a big thick shiny heart (it’s printed on pearlized paper). She’s really excited to give them out and I told her that she can decorate the envelope since they don’t put the classmates’ names on the valentines in her card so she was thrilled to see that the envelopes were big blank squares. I just wish we had ordered a few more because they’re so nice in person. Good and sturdy.

Calvin also got his own this year with his cute little puppy face on them:

His are smaller (the size of traditional classroom valentines) so he’ll be able to hold them and give them out himself without fighting with a stack of envelopes. He doesn’t have his own classroom this year, but we’ll be visiting friends to spread the love and I wanted him to have his own little Calvin cards to give. He gets so proud of himself about stuff like that.

And then ours:

Tiny Prints Valentines Cards

Cute, simple, not too childish but also not taking itself too seriously. Love. The hearts came in different colors so I was able to pick the scheme that I preferred and they’re sized for standard envelopes so no extra postage.

Oh, and we got the pearlized paper too. Because it’s my favorite.

I got personalized stamps, too, so that I don’t just leave the valentines sitting around and forget to actually send them to people (which, sadly, happens…mostly with thank you notes…). I almost used the same photo for the stamp that I used for the card but then I thought that might be a little too cutesy so I went with this throwback photo of new Eva in her little pink heart onesie doing the baby victory cheer and added a few hearts a la Tiny Prints.

And finally I got some treat bag stickers for Eva. The treat bag thing is kind of a learned behavior since I sent Eva to school with only valentines for her first class party and she came home with nothing but “valentines plus”. You know, valentines plus toys, valentines plus stickers, valentines plus tattoos. I don’t necessarily think that everything needs to have a plus and I don’t think any of the other parents held our “valentines only” choice against us, but I’ve been a plus mom ever since. Honestly, any excuse to give out a little extra love is fine by me!

I’m not sure what our plus this year will be (maybe pink applesauce to match these cute labels?) but I ordered some extra so we can bag up some homemade cookies as well for the friends who will be getting extra love.
