We had a snowy snowflake penguin party playdate! (Say that ten times fast.)
I had seen a little preschool project where kids made snowflakes from folded coffee filters and I wanted to do that with Eva. I decided it would be more fun with a little theming and some easy snacks and...well...it was awesome!
We had gingerbread donuts...
...penguin cookies...
...blue jello "ice" cubes...
...and for the table cloth we did layers of sparkly fabric to make everything look snowy.
Each girl got a blue Santa hat, a stack of coffee filters, and some safety scissors to make some snowflakes. The snowflakes were a hit, but then they figured out how to make coffee filter crowns (so creative!) and then they figured out that coffee filters float when you throw them and then they had a contest to see who could eat the most sugar in the shortest amount of time. Such is life...
All in all, it was a great party and fun theme! The treats only took about an hour to do from start to finish (not counting the time it took to chill the Jello) and it was a great way to celebrate the season. Sadly, we don't have a snowflake in sight here in Salt Lake City but maybe if we keep the penguin spirit alive and well, the universe might take the hint. I want a white Christmas!!
